Wadin' Through Corn and Wavin' the Wheat

We had a rip-roarin' good time with Michelle this weekend! For several weeks, Ben had had his eye on a corn maze advertised in the paper, and thought that Michelle would greatly benefit during her time here from a romp through said maze.  

So, on Saturday, we trucked it up to a farm outside of town for a dragon-fly shaped maze with 4 miles of paths.  To make it through the maze, you had to search for mailboxes that each contain a new piece of the map of the maze.  There are additional hidden green posts throughout the fight to the finish that each contain a stamp; if you mark your map with the stamp to prove you found 6 of the 8 hidden posts, you get a special bonus prize: a "Corn Maze Master" certificate (hint: important information for later in the blog post).

Ben was feeling especially competitive, not to mention determined to finish the maze AND find all of the bonus stamps, so we split up, he going one way, and Michelle and Emily going another.

Elation: Finding the First Mailbox

Surprise: Finding Tape and the First Map Piece

Bewilderment: Encountering Ben in the Maze and Being Force-Fed Rotten Corn ("For the Baby!")

Triumph: Becoming Corn Maze Masters

...well, not exactly.  We played a trick on Ben by getting the ladies at the front desk to stamp our map and give us the certificates so that he would be believe we not only beat him through the maze, but also found all of the hidden green posts.

After emerging from the maze ourselves, Michelle and I went up on the look out tower and had a Goon Spotting... 

Later that evening, we finally confessed to the fact that Ben was the true winner of the Certificate, because he had actually found 4 of the 6 required posts.  Here is the handoff ceremony:

Our weekend was capped off by a get-together with the Reddigs and a singing of the Alma Mater, led by Mary Ann and Rose.
